Buyer's Appliance Guide

Appliance	Type	Sizes	Options / Comments
Dishwasher	built-in	24”	some models will accept a cabinet door to match kitchen cabinets. Also available 18” wide model for tight spaces.
Ranges	Freestanding	30”	gas or electric with back guard
Ranges	Slide-in	30”	must be keyed into countertop and usually stands about 1½’ from back wall. Must be specified for proper countertop preparation (cut-out)
Ranges	Freestanding Professional	30-36-48 & 60	can be dual fuel-typically 27” depth ” 2-ovens with 48 & 60” models Requires 600-1200CFM hood for higher BTU burners.
Cook tops	built-in	12-18-24 30-36-42-48”	must be cut into countertop - depth varies and can hit top drawer of base cabinet below. Gas models have to allow for gas line and could interfere with base cabinet shelves or roll-out trays
Range tops	built-in	30-36-42-48& 60”	different than cook top in that burner controls are below surface and requires a modified height base cabinet to accommodate typical 8” depth. Also requires 600-1200CFM hood for high BTU burners (gas).
Microwave ovens	free standing	varies	can be microwave only-convection Uses radiant heat to brown. Most are For countertop placement some Models can be built-in but require a Tim kit for ventilation. Wall cabinet available with open shelf to keep off countertop.
Microwave oven	built-in	27-30”	usually requires a trim kit and can be installed in a tall or base cabinet.
Microwave oven	over the range Built-in	30 & 36”	Best when vented since most models come with a 300CFM hood. Some models have convection heat using Electric calrod element or halogen lighting.
Wall Ovens	built-in	24-27-30-36”	Usually requires a tall oven cabinet which must be cut-out to house single or double configurations. Some models can be built-in under counter but will still require a cut out of base cabinet.
Wall Oven / Micro combination	built-in	27-30-36”	Requires tall oven cabinet and must be cut-out to install.
Range Hoods	built-in	24-30-36-42-48-60”	Motor size (CFM) varies recommend venting especially with Professional ranges & cook tops. Additional covering may be needed For 8-10ft ceilings to run duct work.
Warming Drawers	built-in	27-30”	can be installed in a tall oven cabinet usually below ovens. Can also go in base cabinet all must be cut-out and requires a custom modification.
Refrigerators	standard	24-36	varies in width, depth and he Can be boxed in with 24” panels but all will stick out past the 24” depth depending on the model
	reduced depth	33-36”-	most models will be higher in height but only 26-27” depth. Gives a more built-in look.Optional matching kitchen cabinet doors are available
	Built-in	30-36-42 48-72”	most expensive and requires specific dimensions to build-in, End panels are required and optional matching kitchen cabinet doors are available Grill covers are also available.
	Under Counter built-in	18-48’	special for many uses, beverage,wine varies ice makers, double drawer freezer or refrigerator combinations.
Trash Compactors	built-in	12-15-18”	not as popular today because of re-cycling, can be paneled with matching kitchen cabinet door

Typical Examples
This picture shows a typical appliance set- up: 24”dishwasher, 30” range with an over the range microwave and a 36” reduced depth refrigerator.
This picture shows an optional 36” rangetop with a 36 professional hood with infra-red heat lamps 30” built- in microwave and wall oven. Below is a 30” warming drawer
This picture shows a reduced depth refrigerator which sticks out approximately 3-4 inches past the end panels, the height is also about 70 inches. The top wall cabinet being 72 inches from the floor, 36 inches wide and 24 inches deep.

The picture to the right features a built-in 42 inch refrigerator. End panels are 24 inches deep with 3 inch fluted columns to add to the design as well as helping the door swing past 90 degrees. Refrigerator depth is 24 inches and requires professional installation.

This shows a typical boxed in refrigerator with 24 inch deep end panels and 24 inch deep wall cabinet above. Most normal sized refrigerators will stick out past the 24 inch end panels by anywhere from 5 to 10 inches (not including the handles).
